Hey everyone,
As detailed in our recent Bootstrapping the Community Blog Post, we have officially laid the groundwork for our enterprise trust and governance model (Apache 2.0, CLAs, Rolling Releases).
Our gaze is now shifting toward the long-term sustainability of the project. Currently, development is being sponsored and bootstrapped by Castlecraft Ecommerce Pvt. Ltd. However, our ultimate goal is to incorporate a dedicated non-profit entity: the "Framework M Foundation" (pending legal name availability).
The Vision for the Foundation
To ensure Framework M remains a pure, community-driven open-source project, the Foundation will serve as the official cost center and steward. Because it pays for the infrastructure costs, the Foundation will legally own the core assets, including:
- Codebase repositories
- Websites and Domains
- Trademarks
Funding Model
The Foundation will never rely on commercial models that are intrusive to the codebase. Instead, it will be sustained through:
- Corporate memberships & sponsorships
- Community donations
- Paid certification exams and official credentials under the trademark
Call for Founding Partners
To make this a reality, we need the right amount of funding to cover the first two years of the project. We are officially opening the floor to organizations that wish to become Founding Partners of the Framework M Foundation.
If your organization relies on Framework M or believes in our hexagonal architecture vision, this is your opportunity to help shape the governance and guarantee the project's longevity.
Drafting the Byelaws, MOA, and AOA
At this stage, nothing regarding the Foundation's legal structure is set in stone. We want to build this transparently. To kick things off, we need to collaboratively draft the foundational documents:
- Byelaws (Governance rules, board structure, election processes)
- Memorandum of Association (MOA) (The Foundation's official name, purpose, and objectives)
- Articles of Association (AOA) (Regulations for the Foundation's internal management)
Please use this thread to propose baseline byelaws, ask questions, share examples from other open-source foundations, or express interest in a partnership. We look forward to building this together!
